Necropsy skills

The aim of this unit is to provide the learner with the ability to demonstrate the skills required to support the NVS or a research project with the collection of tissues or identification of health problems.
Hybrid learning – Zoom session 3rd Nov 9-10, practical day face to face 16th Nov 2026 at Advance training centre.

Key Skills you will develop
- Knowledge of the anatomical structure of the species in their care and be able to describe the purposes for and procedure of necropsy
- Apply their knowledge of comparative anatomy to perform a basic necropsy and be able to identify how various tissues can be processed
- Describe common signs of ill health
Occasionally it is necessary for courses to be cancelled or rescheduled by CLAST. The Course Administrator will send an email to advise you of the cancellation and, if possible, provide a new date for the course. We will endeavour to give at least 4 weeks’ notice prior to the course start date.
